Landing page sucks

Hi,

Launched our prelaunch landing page towards the end of last year. We were very optimistic that we would have a lot of users signing up for our launch.

Fast forward to two months the landing page is not converting.

Fellow Indies I come here asking for your feedback on how we can increase our conversions and any suggestions on actions to take.

Our URL is www.taprecruit.co.uk

My immediate reaction to the page was, "but I need a job now" - bounce.

I didn't analyze the effectiveness of the page itself, but it seems like your not in a position to help employers or job seekers yet. I wouldn't sign up either.

When will the site be ready?

Maybe cold calling employers will help - once the platform is ready. And advertising on LinkedIn?? < no idea how affective it is on that platform.

Then once some jobs are posted, advertise those jobs wherever job seekers are hanging out.

      Hi Jason,

      Thanks for having a look.

Do you think we should keep the landing page up based on your observations?

We are on track to launch in April. But I thought that we could have a landing page to get some emails from prospective users.

I think having a landing page makes sense, you're doing it right. In the spirit of doing things that don't scale, you might have to work quite hard for your first jobseekers. I found my current job through a startup in the same space as you and they personally contacted me on LinkedIn and created a profile for me based on my CV. That was great UX and helped alleviate some of the issues in the platform (such as the scarcity of jobs on offer).

Approaching candidates on Linkedin is a shout. We will need to find a way to get traction when we launch. Out of curiosity what was the name of the startup that helped you get the job?

As @lightgreenparrot said, yeah def have a landing page. My original thoughts were a way of reasoning why you may be experiencing low pre-signups. You're good. Might be a bit before you gain some traction.

Thanks mate will definitely work on the messaging and find a way to offer value whilst we are still developing.

Overall the website looks good. A couple of suggestions:

    • Showcase the biggest companies that are hiring above the fold. Right now the website looks kinda nice, but it doesn't speak to me as credible.
    • After the header. Have the how it works section. Because the middle section is just something that I skipped. Most users read very little text.

https://meetfrank.com/ is a very good example of what you are going for. Try mimicking their content structure.

Good points by the others in this thread to improve the headline to a more specific one. Also I would also like to add a small tip - "Be the first to get notified when we launch!" I think this line can be changed to "Get seen by hundreds of employers when we launch!" This would lead you to more

I think the biggest thing I would change is not use the word today in the headline because actually it's not going to happen today from what I can tell.

Also, my guess would be employers are more likely to sign up to something that's not launched yet than candidates because as an employer I know I will still be hiring in 6 months probably but as a candidate I wouldn't (although I'm not a candidate so its hard to tell). Maybe make the default tab employers? or you could do something like this (https://www.heytempo.com/) and show the split cos it's quite hard to miss the tabs.

Lastly, I think you need to make the value prop more clear. "Find your dream job" doesn't really show me what is unique about your product cos everything promises that (basically). Maybe it should be more about having your hand held through the process or something more related to the chances of success if you are "on top" of your search vs if you are just applying randomly everywhere and not keeping track?
