Landing page using a subdomain?

Has anyone has successfully managed to get signups for a landing page using a subdomain (e.g. of your personal site) instead of buying a new domain?

Asking out of curiosity to see if it's a viable approach - most domains aren't particularly expensive but it can add up :D

If you're testing a lot of ideas, I would stick with the landing page builder/hosting name.

    Makes you look less "cheap"

I would buy the domain, that $8 makes you look more serious.

Maybe buy a domain that can be used for many different things. Instead of marketingagency.com go with a random name.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah I do think it I'd lose some "branding" if I chose to go with a subdomain, was just wondering if anyone had successfully pulled it off. Would you think differently if you owned the parent domain? e.g. https://flexibits.com/fantastical, https://anypicker.ryang-studio.com/ (although arguably the main distribution channel for those aren't the web)
