I am currently working with my team on https://www.actioncy.io and I am pondering with everyone about how much "landing" our page needs. We try to focus on the core of our promise to present marketing channels and their actions straight away.
On the other hand we argue over how much we need more of an intro than we currently have and deliver the app after login etc.
What are your experiences? App behind shopping window - landing page first or straight to the party? Thanks for sharing!
Hi all,
Just to let you know: Some of your feedback is now live. Thanks again for the helpful comments!!
I would remove "Find here" from the sub-header. It sounds redundant and sort of clumsy. Really really cool idea though, very useful for an indie bootstraper.
Thank you for the kind words and feedback BarryBlock! This is changed for the next release (currently in review).
I like the structure. I would make some change:
-header: remove upcoming and contribute, they distract the user from the goal, to read the guides, and I doubt that someone will contribute without having read the guides or subscribe on product hunt, instead of just signing up on you site.
-hero: remove the logo and the text marketing & channel action.
Thank you Luqa. I think I need a bit of logo for brand recognition but focus vs. clutter is high on my radar so good feedback indeed.
Hey @cphCodes
Here are a few thoughts.
Your heading and subheading should be reversed.
That doesn't mean anything to somebody who is just landing on your page.
That immediately says what the page is about. However, it doesn't say much about why the service exists.
I signed up to try to figure it out.
I think it's a nice thing to offer but I wonder why I need to have an account to suggest guides. I can see needing an account to contribute but not to suggest.
I think the benefit to this is giving people easy to find and digest how-to guides for popular marketing channels.
As such, I would go with a headline that states that right away, e.g.
Maybe a subhead like:
For the channels listed, I'd reduce the number on the home page to a top 5. Maybe Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and Medium (or Pinterest). Then create "cards" for those, with a specific title, e.g.
When they click that card, take them into a dedicated page on how to create their FB business page.
Under that top 5, you can show the logos of 6 - 8 more. Those logos could link off to a dedicated page for each channel. Like you're doing here - https://www.actioncy.io/facebook
Reason being, the landing page currently has a big list to digest and I have to try to figure out what this really is.
I would let people suggest new channels and THEN ask them to sign up to get notifications when you add that channel. Not before.
Out of curiosity, is this what Actioncy is going to be? Or is this a lead magnet kind of service to get them into something else?
Cheers Davey that is a very good point and might also solve what Barry suggested. I can see that I try to establish a language that might not make sense from a beginning.
I am trying out a new subheader in the next push to production.
The reason for people to create an account was meant indeed to offer a transactional email follow up when people's suggestions are accepted etc. I like your point to potentially turn this around and offer it as a benefit.
There is more to come as hinted by "Upcoming" and once the audience is bigger I plan Marketers and Agencies to advertise their services here. So while the user accounts seem to offer a little functionality at the moment there is more in the making.
Thank you very very much for your time to write this up!!
I really like the idea. It's a good one-stop resource that could save people loads of time.
I see a mistake on the home page. "Find here requirements..." should be "Find requirements...".
I found the overall experience as easy to understand. It's straight to the point. I'm not sure how much of an intro you need, but it's probably a good idea to add one. I prefer straight to the party.
Thanks a ton Troy. Good spot! Will fix with the next push.
