Language around "making friends" as a community benefit
Hi,
we are designing our landing page copy for the new website for our community, called The Watch Collectors' Club. One of the hopes for the club is that our members eventually befriend others through our community.
However, I see very few people talk about this aspect of community building, and haven't seen people putting things like "make friends" or "find friends" as part of the benefits of their community.
Is there good reason for this? Does it test badly? Or is it just something that people don't think of or think is unprofessional?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with highlighting one of the best things about online community. I think the reason you don't see it called out very often is because business or monetized communities think they have to focus more on "networking" and "delivering value" in a jargony way, and don't flat out say "hey, you're going to vibe with people like you." Count me as a vote for friendly, assuming that's the tone you're going for with your site.
