How do you keep track of and select ideas/problems to work on? I’m currently using a kanban board in Jira. My list has grown long and Jira is limited in testing and ranking the ideas.
In a search for ways to improve I quickly put together thestartupmatrix.com
The Startup Matrix asks you questions about your idea, and it will place it in one of four quadrants:
💎 Winners
🎰 Jokers
💪 Side Projects (Micro Saas)
🍄 Stay away
The questions/tests are strongly inspired by writings and talks Tyler Tringas, Pieter Levels, Paul Graham ++. I've just tried to give it some structure.
This tool is not really an attempt for a SaaS itself. I rather view it as an exploration to make sure I work on the best ideas going forward. As many others I've been running in the wrong direction a few times in the past, and I really want to avoid that 😆
Highly appreciated if you try it. Let me know what you think and how it can be improved.
NB: This MVP is made to test paid SaaS ideas (mostly B2B)
Pretty cool!
Great tool. I tried it with few idea, two of them that I had already implemented, answering with the mindset I had at the beginning, and the outcome was inline with the actual experience (joker/stay away; winner). I've also tried with the one I'm working on right now and it was a winner, fingers crossed :-)
This is great. Just went through it for an app I'm creating. It would be good to be able to go back to the previous step if we accidentally click the wrong option, or want to see what a different outcome would be where all other selections stay the same. Also a progress bar would be nice. Very cool. Signed up.
Thanks a lot for great feedback. Makes me happy 😊 You can actually use the back button in the browser (yeah, I don’t know how to do the fancy 1-pager for all veiws 😊), but it only works for the last idea. Should probably have a «review/edit» button next to the list of ideas. Agree on progress bar. Thanks for the feedback, and good luck with your «winner». Fingers crossed!

Thanks a lot @yuzool 😊 thestartupmatrix.com itself also ends up in the red zone 😂
The scoring algorithm is quite strict, and missing on just one of the questions hurts the score a lot (it’s not linear). This may give discouraging output, but I rather discard bad ideas before executing on them.
I’m very happy to discuss how this is best set up. This tool is not really an attempt to make a business in itself, but rather to increase likeliehood of success in whatever else I pursue.
