Launch Month #2 - My journey from no-code to coding my project

Greeting my fellow monthly startup launchers 👋

So I started out my journey as an IH last year and am creating one micro startup per month.

Last month I launched my first product for January

I just launched my February project on PH🎉

My Journey

I had fun creating the virtual team activities service with carrd and airtable, but often got the feeling that things are not flexible enough within the no-code tools.

That is when I made the decision to get back into code.

I know about basic concepts like HTML&CSS and learned a bit of JS, but never really created something real of my own.

Tools I used

  • Github / Git
  • Netfliy
  • VSCode
  • Exsessive Youtube, Google & Stackoverflow 😂

So I started out by creating my first GitHub repository and googling my way through HTML & CSS problems and questions on stack overflow.

I got the basic setup of my website ready was delighted to see that you can easily deploy websites for free via netlify.

Fast forward 2 weeks I just launched my project

VeganBookBase.com - A web service for you to find plant-based books easy & simple.

Vegan Book Base

In case you are interested you can look at the stats, I am launching on PH today, so maybe I will get a couple of views

Learnings

You can really create a basic website by just googling what you want and adding HTML or CSS to the search query.

In the first days, it will feel awkward and slow, but eventually, you will get used to it and things will work out.

You will clearly have a better understanding of no-code tools (in case you use them) and have the opportunity to choose how you want to create stuff.

What's next?

I have no clear idea what I will do for the next month. I have a couple of concepts, but the work was pretty hard the last days, so the first thing will be taking some time off and decompressing :)

Would love to know what you think about my #2 project?
Any other questions?

Thanks and have a good one!
