After testing the idea with the 1.0 version and building a new version for two months, we launched our new website for KnowledgeHunt (it still needs small changes but is mostly ready).
Knowledgehunt is a free platform that curates and summarizes startup and business-related resources from around the web, providing a one-stop-shop for entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, startup founders and enthusiasts to access the latest knowledge and industry updates.
Knowledgehunt provides an easy way to discover new and upcoming trends, ideas, and solutions that you may not have come across otherwise.
I would love to hear your feedback, specifically regarding the following:
The main grid with all of the knowledge resources took a second to load but the base page seemed to load fine
Easy to understand (especially if you're a product hunt user)
Frustrations:
In the hero section the text that switches basically says different forms of entrepreneurs I think you could target different people into startups like product managers, marketers, etc based on your content (right now it goes from entrepreneur to solopreneur)
The sub text in the hero section to the left and right looks long and makes me not want to read it (making this shorter and punchier would help)
The website favicon is a little confusing (though I understand the image it's kind of hard to see)
Food for thought page should be loaded with at least 5-10 resources (right now only seeing two)
Maybe instead of writing the names of the startups using their logos for the resource thumbnails to add more social proof and visual validation
Feel the like the resource thumbnails could list their unique value prop a bit more instead of saying features of the guide
For the cards explaining the resource maybe shorten the paragraph after 30-75 characters then add a few bullets from the "Access this guide to read about" section of the resource
------
I like the premise of your website but I think you should look more at how product hunt creates social validity through having multiple startup brands shown for the different items on their site. I think good references could be ProductHunt, AppSumo, and Betalist (but for educational resources)
I also think adding some metrics would help get more clicks like upvotes, views, downloads, or something to help show engagement of the materials
Hey, thank you for this detailed feedback; really helpful!
Could you please explain a bit more what you mean by 'create social validity'? Also, would you use Knowledgehunt? If not, what is the reason (you can find resources yourself, not enough resources on KH, the website is not user-friendly, etc.)?
I have a roadmap of features that will definitely increase the user engagement that you mentioned (other type of resources, community forum, upvoted, save feature)
No problem!
Social validity - This could mean a few things but as a whole showcasing that people are using the product and like it (upvotes and comments as two prime examples and testimonials as another)
I would use Knowledgehunt, but right now for me it's not visual enough to prompt signing up. I REALLY like to see actual examples of what I'll be reading/downloading. When I don't see a screenshot I usually won't download or copy a template unless it has social proof or they really sell me on the emotional benefits (save X amount of time by using our template to Y)
Additionally, if you have any free guide/handbook that you want to share with the community, let me know, and I will add the resource to the KnowledgeHunt database.
