Launched a new productized service: audio and music, looking for feedback

Hello indiehackers,
I'm really thrilled to announce launching the very first (for us) productized service.

We help people to improve their audio recordings and also my partner can produce great music (actually he does all the mastering).

We launched this service because my partner is a guru in music production and we found a demand for this type of service, so we would like to try and see if productized service can be launched in this field.

If you host a podcast or youtube channel, or maybe you create some intro videos and you need great, unique music, welcome!

Please visit our website: www.purplesoundstudios.com

Can you answer our questions:

  • is it clear what we are offering?
  • is the price too low? (we know it's low but don't know if it's too low)
  • any stupid typos?
  • anything else is wrong?

Thanks!

    How cool, great launch guys.

As a suggestion, I think timing for a lot of people might be an issue - when the world is so geared to “ship it”. Perhaps something about how to work this into a scheduled workflow would be good.

For example, our YouTube channel could really work with this - but as soon as we finish a video it’s gone. Deadlines are so tight. Perhaps an option to optimise and replace old audio from YouTube videos?

    Also, more directly :

For one fixed monthly price, greatly improve your unique sound, with an added touch from our music producers

    Change to:

Amplify your unique sound - have expert music producers enhance your audio for one fixed monthly fee.

Hope it helps & I’m excited for you both.
(Wrote on my phone so excuse the inevitable mistakes).

      Thanks for your great feedback!
We will discuss all the things you suggested.

Hrrmm, that's a low price for all that value.

    A few thoughts real quick:

I think I'd add an option that's not monthly. Something like a one-off engagement.

I'd consider an option where you give some availability to riff on ideas. 2 days for $300. This makes the client block off two days for this (there's value for them in having that kind of accountability/focus) which limits your commitment but allows you to go overboard for the client in those two days. They're expecting ideas, riffing. They get a little more than they expected by getting new insights for next time, a boost in creativity, a good time working with experienced peers.

I've got a few more ideas. Mind if I write a post about my feedback, screenshot your current site in my article?

Thanks for your feedback! We will discuss it.
Sure, you can post feedback in your article.

        Here's the write-up:

I still think your prices are too low... not for the buyer (although it does seem suspect, and that creates anxiety in the buyer), but it might put you in a bad spot. It's just that it's not necessary for you to make the price the main feature of your offering. And come to think of it, 2 days for $300 is also too low. See the options I'm suggesting and you'll see what I mean.

        Hope that helps!

          From your article:

More of the same? Yes, the Basic package promises a better sound. The Premium package promises a better, better sound.

Well, the difference is not what you described. The difference is basic plan allows only technical improvements (like mastering, mixing, background noise removal etc.) whereas the Premium plan allows you to order our original composition. I thought it's pretty clear in the pricing, no?

          1. 1

Right, I did see that difference...

Would you say the value for the Premium package would then be about originality?

            1. 1

Not only about the originality, it's just a different kind of work.
The light plan is only about the technical improvements, it doesn't include any composition. On the Premium plan you can request a music composer to create the original composition and use one already written composition from our huge library (if you need it much faster).

And btw, I raised the pricing. Let's see how it will go.

        2. 1

Wow, this is cool! We have to read your article thoroughly as I see there are many ideas inside :)
And I like how you designed your blog, it looks unusual and cool!
          Thanks!

    Hello Zencentric!

Interesting proposal! I think it's a good idea with potential. It's true the price of the light plan is pretty low. Perhaps you can see if it's successful like this and once you get more customers –and the workload increases– raise the prices.

On the other hand, maybe it's because I'm not completely familiar with how these kind of services work, but I can't fully understand which is the added value of paying for the premium tier. In the answer of the FAQ (...as well as music made by our producers, added right on your recording, which can be transitioned as requested), does that mean your producers make a unique composition upon request for your customer, or that compositions that your producers have worked on before are delivered to them? Also, what does transitions mean?

Aren't you afraid that perhaps someone might decide to pay just for one month, submit several requests and then quit the service? How can you make sure you retain those customers?

Finally, I want to state in advance that I'm not an expert in the UX/UI / design field, but I really care about it and think the overall feel of the landing page could/should be more professional in order to generate trust among your potential customers and show them that you aim for quality. Perhaps you can get some inspiration from sites like splice.com or landr.com, which are organisations in the same field, as you might know already.

Just a couple of quick design tips that might work for your current page: I would make the social media icons all white, and also change the testimonial text font to a sans-serif one. Also, perhaps would be better to limit the colors of the page to just three: you could use the ones of the audio samples play bar (#321844 and #e88f56) plus white. Everything would look more coherent then.

I hope you can take my words not as a discouragement but as motivation to keep on working hard and move forward, congrats on the launch and good luck!

I can't fully understand which is the added value of paying for the premium tier.
Hmm we probably should be more clear. The idea is people on Light plan get only technical labors like - mixing, mastering, enhancements, background noise removal etc. whereas on the Full plan they also have music production.

does that mean your producers make a unique composition upon request for your customer, or that compositions that your producers have worked on before are delivered to them?

Actually, both. We have a huge library of our own compositions and also can produce new music. I don't know if we should emphasize it.

      Also, what does transitions mean?

      I told him! :))
It means some intros and smooth transitions from one sound fragment to another with or without music. I think we should make it more clear.

Aren't you afraid that perhaps someone might decide to pay just for one month, submit several requests and then quit the service? How can you make sure you retain those customers?

The idea is a client can request as many as he can but as soon as there is only one engineer/producer working on requests he can't do more than he can, right? I think it's how all the productized services work. Request by request. How many requests could be done in one month always depends on their complexity.

Thanks for your piece of advice on the design, we will discuss it too!
      Many thanks for your feedback!

Cool!! And you're welcome, thanks for your exhaustive reply too!

Looks clear to me, regarding prices no idea.. Totally not my business side, but the website looks clear and cool!
