I'm excited to share a side project I've been tinkering with and just launched: IT Word Search Labs – a simple, fun word search game exclusively for IT professionals, developers, and tech enthusiasts.

The "Why" Behind It
Like many of you, I spend a lot of time in front of a screen. Sometimes, during a long compile, a boring meeting, or just needing a quick mental break, I'd find myself looking for something simple and engaging to do. Classic word search puzzles came to mind, but I noticed a gap: there wasn't really one focused on our world – the world of algorithms, databases, frameworks, and cybersecurity.
So, the idea sparked: why not create one? A place where you can relax, maybe even subtly reinforce your tech vocabulary, without any distractions or ads.
How I Built It (The "How")
This project was a great opportunity to learn more about web accessibility on the frontend.
Frontend: Next.js
Styling: Tailwind CSS
Backend: Node.js
Database: PostgreSQL
Hosting: Vercel
The biggest challenge was optimizing the puzzle generation algorithm for performance.
What's Next? (Future Plans)
Adding more categories (e.g., AI/ML, Cloud Computing, Game Development).
Implementing difficulty levels.
User-submitted word lists.
What I've Learned So Far
Niche products can be powerful: Focusing on a specific audience helps define features and messaging.
The power of a simple idea: Not every project needs to be a groundbreaking SaaS. Sometimes, a well-executed simple idea brings joy.
