Launched a SaaS running completely on Cloudflare for Free

Hey everyone,

We've recently launched a new SaaS, and we decided to build it on Cloudflare.

There's a lot of hype around Vercel, and we seriously considered it for our new SaaS. But after seeing multiple concerns about high billing charges, we decided to explore alternatives. That’s when we turned to Cloudflare.

It's been an interesting experience, especially with all the Vercel hype around, but we’re really happy with our choice.

Our product (SignupNotes, in-app user onboarding surveys) is placed at a critical user journey stage — on onboarding, so high uptime and reliability was very important.

Cloudflare's serverless architecture could provide the speed and reliability we need, so it gave us the confidence to build our entire stack on their platform.

Here’s how we’ve utilized Cloudflare’s services:

  • The dashboard is built with Nuxt and deployed on Cloudflare Pages.
  • Our in-app onboarding surveys are also deployed on Cloudflare Pages.
  • Survey settings are stored in D1 and submissions are pushed to Cloudflare Queue for further processing.
  • For images, we're utilizing Cloudflare Image Resizer.
  • Of course, we're also taking full advantage of Cloudflare's CDN and DNS services.

The only non-Cloudflare bit is our dashboard's backend API, which is in .NET (not big fans of Node.js on backend). However, we're considering moving it to Cloudflare in the future.

Cloudflare offers a very generous free tier planm, and it a great alternative for new projects. If you’re planning something new, I highly recommend giving Cloudflare a look!

Congratulations! I use Cloudflare for all my projects, primarily for DDoS protection. Buying the domain there is also very convenient, as a lot of things are setup automatically for you.
