Heya! So I just launched my latest project. It's the first AI-related project I've launched. I am curious what you guys think of it!
Especially around the pricing-side of it. I wanted to move away from the monthly pricing thing and go more towards a usage-based pricing. I am yet to find out whether anyone will even use more than the initial free amount at the moment.
This is #6 in my 12 startups challenge, so feel free to ask any questions too!
Cheers!
Update:
I posted the first-week results here: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/1-week-update-on-ruru-ea6d18a149
awesome! submit it here and we will list it and give you a verification badge :)

Thanks! Just submitted it in!
awesome! i will def add you in
Also just submitted as well for https://www.tully.ai/
@joshfreeland if you haven't yet, submit yours to https://www.futurepedia.io/ that's where most of my traffic has come from the last few days.
I like the pricing model! I think a lot of these niche AI apps are going to be great for a specific problem, but that problem might not be a recurring thing. Usage based pricing should make it easier to get users started.
Thanks! Yea, that was sort of my thought too. It's not something that someone will need to use all the time.
This is interesting! But what advantage does this have over just using ChatGPT and asking questions? Especially when it's free.
Also, do you have plans to add image generation? If so, Evoke would help greatly.
Great question! So the advantage for now is the fact that it's been limited to pet-related things. So I've added some extra prompts to make sure it doesn't stray away like chatgpt does. So far it's been pretty good but I may need to adjust prompts as required.
Eventually I have plans to add more things that could basically add context to it, for example the breed and age of your pet.
Image-wise, not at this point. But will keep it in mind for sure.
I guess same question there on evoke, what's the difference to using say the replicate api?
Ah, makes sense.
As for Evoke, right now we're just cheaper and faster
However, in the near future, we have plans to do some tuning for the prompts and models for our AI such that users will get much better images (midjourney level)
Ooo... yea, if you can get to midjourney level, I definitely have a project in mind haha. I've been kinda using it manually for my own things. But haven't been happy with the results of all the others that have APIs so I can't automate it just yet.
Your concept is great! It would be even better if we could have 5 free trials to experience it.
I'm also excited to share with you our launch on Product Hunt:
Trickle AI - Prompts Warehouse. While retaining Trickle's original features, we've now integrated Database and AI into Trickle. Looking forward to your support.

Thanks! And I'll do you one better, you can have 10! All first 10 questions are free when you sign up.
I saw a lot of people choosing the usage-pricing for their products. Do you belive it's better for the customers or for the founders?
I personally think it's better for the customers which means in the long term should be better for founders.
Cool! I am thinking about switching too, but not sure yet
Very cool! Congratulations! Landing page looks clean, and pricing looks good too. A bit pricey maybe but overall great!
I am also working on an AI startup, where you can create text, audio and video content
here is. a quick demo

Thanks! What price do you think would make more sense?
Maybe you could do something like 1 dollar every 10 questions and then gets cheaper per question, 2 for 30, etc? I am no expert by the way.
The site looks great and clean. Plus love the concept, especially as a pet owner this could be really useful! I definitely think you were right not to go with a subscription based pricing model as I think a lot of people are starting to become weary of signing up to another plan. Would be interesting to see how this usage-base model works out for you. Good luck!
Thanks! Yea, hopefully it works out haha! :)
The landing page looks clean. I guess the question I have for you is who is this geared towards?
Tech-savvy consumers or the average Joe? If the later, I would edit some of the copy on the landing page. Yes, in our AI circles on Twitter and IH we know about ChatGPT4, but the average person probably doesn't, nor do they care.
I would focus more on their pain points of the current way search works (doing a google search, having to go to multiple websites which are plastered in ads, etc.).
Just my initial feedback after reading the copy on the landing page.
Thanks for the feedback! Yea, I believe right now it is for the average Joe.
That's a really good point on the lingo, I'll have a think about it and update it to suit. Cheers!
Do you believe that the usage-based pricing is a good move? I saw a lot of people moving from subscriptions to lifetime payments etc.
It's something that I personally think should be on more softwares, especially something like this that probably is not going to be used consistently each month. But I guess I'll find out what people think. I'm also leaving it running for a week to see what my costs are and work out if that price is too low or not. I can potentially offer a lifetime deal. If you've got tips on how to quantify how much lifetime should cost, I'm all ears as I haven't worked that out yet.
Hi. How do you plan to get the word out about your product? Are you in any pet communities?
So far I've been submitting it to developer communities, telling friends, submitted to different AI directories, and sharing on my own socials. I haven't looked for any pet-specific communities yet. But I've started collating some and will submit them in sometime this week.
The thing with pets is that, a lot of people have pets and only a small percentage of them belong to specifically pet communities. So I decided that going through all the channels I already have made sense this time around.
Landing page is professional...All the best...$1 for 10 question is good...initially, go can try with free trail period without restriction like all other do :)
Yep, the first 10 questions is free! So people can use it until they run out of available questions instead of a time-based trial period.
Landing page looks so cool Justin!! All the best 🎉
Great job!!
Wow, love pets - that's great idea! :) Did you train ai it with your dataset?
For the initial one, I've just used OpenAI's API. But the plan is to use my own dataset eventually so I can narrow down the "hallucinations" as such. As I don't want it to be giving out terrible advice. Thought it'd be great to just push it out first and see if there is a demand for this or not.
Great job! AI is the future trend
And we launched a Web3 + AI feature yesterday called Mest, a practical and straightforward wallet analysis tool designed to help you easily manage your crypto assets.
Our website: https://mest.io/
Our goal is to tackle the complexity of blockchain data with an honest and user-friendly Language User Interface (LUI), ensuring that our users have a reliable and high-quality wallet management experience.
As for the pricing side, Mest is free temporarily, but fees will also be considered in the future, and the Freemium strategy may be adopted
Great Justin, congrats .. curious to know if it has made revenue just yet? Even small amounts to prove the concept
Thank you! Ah, so far no revenue yet. But I did forget to set my tax country so Stripe didn't actually work until 12 hours after launch :p, something I should've checked but forgot to.
The nice thing was that one of the initial users told me about it. So they were intending on sending some money through.
Great job. You can also find some info here https://crackcorella.com/how-to-find-mawizeh-cell-shop-key/
