Launched an Apparel Pop Up Shop in 3 Days

Over the weekend I built a quick ecommerce pop up shop. I am selling fitness apparel for a limited time around the CrossFit Open. I'm raising money for the community and wanted to get something out quickly.

Parameters:

  • Build Quickly
  • Only had 3-5 products
  • Just get up and running

Shopify was the obvious choice but had to consider others. BigCartel is decent, thought about a GumRoad solution but when I started looking at payments, checkout, shipping - shopify is the number one choice.

That said Shopify is fairly heavy for this specific use case. I felt that I should have been able to get up and running a little quicker. Between setting up emails, custom domains, analytics, and advertising there is a lot of “ops” work to get up and running.

Is there a space for a “Pop Up Shop” ecommerce model?

Maybe not a pop up shop specifically but ecommerce for single products or small catalogs. Is it possible to just churn up a ecomm store that works?
