Launched app on Reddit. Result: 465 downloads in 2 days

After a month of beta testing we went live with our mobile app, Skeebdo, and decided to launch on Reddit almost immediately.

We posted in 4 subreddits for some initial feedback and got some awesome results. I would like to highlight the number of comments we received, because they came from real people who told us their honest opinion. It does not matter whether they downloaded the app, because as outsiders, they can still shed light on some problems and friction points by just looking at the screenshots in the app stores (this is how we learned that we made a spelling mistake on a screenshot).

Results 🎉:

• 231 upvotes
• 86 comments (!)
• 465 downloads

Not bad for a launch!

Takeaways:

• We analyzed which subreddits can be receptive to our content
• We analyzed at what time of which day can we get the most interaction
• We posted in 2 subreddits on Sunday and in 2 others on Monday
• Don't post the same content to all subreddits
• Reply to comments fast. Interaction breeds traction!
• Before posting, prepare some pre-written answers to possible questions
• An interesting title helps
• Get your team to upvote and comment on the post
• And most importantly: it all comes down to whether your content is interesting enough to gain natural traction.
