Launched Coldable: short-list targeted local businesses so you can cold-call to provide your B2B service.

Hi folks,

After several late nights and many, many cups of coffee later - I have officially launched Coldable (http://coldable.netlify.com/). It's a play on words on "cold-calling" + "doable"!

It is a niche tool to help you find local businesses in areas you are targeting. It uses the Google Maps API under the hood so for now you have to provide your own API key (instructions on how to generate are provided and 100% of the data is stored locally on your computer. This service has no back-end, it's all run client-side).

Once you find a few places you are interested in, you can favorite as many you would like. Pop into "research mode" and it brings up the business's website, more information from Google and a little internal note taking app for your eyes only. You can then start going through the list and keep track of all comms between you and them in a single place.

I've shared it with friends and family and a couple of interesting use cases have been:

  • One person who recently graduated is using it to short-list companies in her field so she can do research and send in inquiries for jobs
  • Another person that is trying to kick-start her design agency is reaching out to local mum and pop shops to provide marketing advice. He was doing a similar data gathering but using Excel/Google Docs, this is a bit more convenient.

I haven't thought of how to monetize it yet, but I hope to collect feedback and see where we go from there!
