Launched MileAway v2 - Maps Your Trips From Photos 🌍

Hey IH,
Just shipped version 2 of MileAway, my iOS app that scans your photo library and builds a map of the places you’ve been.

The big update: it now goes beyond countries and shows subregions too — so instead of just “Italy,” you’ll also see exactly which parts of Italy you visited. It’s like a personal travel map built automatically, without having to log anything.

Why I built it: I travel a lot and always wanted a dead-simple way to track where I’ve been without spreadsheets or checklists. MileAway just works quietly in the background from your photos.

What’s going well:
• People who find it organically get hooked
• Feedback is super positive (retention is decent)
• It scratches a “memory + travel tracking” itch that spreadsheets or apps like Polarsteps don’t cover the same way

The challenge:
Ads are rough — super expensive, not converting.
But organic installs convert much better into paid users.

So I’m thinking of leaning into organic: SEO around “travel tracker apps,” App Store Optimization, maybe communities like r/travel.

Curious to hear from anyone here:
👉 How do you grow niche apps when ads don’t pay off?
👉 Any growth hacks for “memory/travel” products you’ve seen work?

Would love to hear your thoughts 🙌
