Launched Mindsnap: My Journey from Lurker to Creator of an Educational App

Hey everyone!

I'm excited to share my first iOS app, Mindsnap! As a web developer for the past 7 years, I've always wanted to try my hand at mobile development. What started as a learning project evolved into a full indie venture, and I'm thrilled to have finally published it.

Ok great, so what is it about actually?

  1. Mindsnap is designed to help users learn about various subjects including art, history, philosophy, psychology, economics, and more.
  2. Lessons are short and engaging, typically 5 minutes long
  3. Features quizzes, guest articles, and in-depth explorations of topics within each field

The idea behind Mindsnap:

I wanted to create a comprehensive resource for learning about these subjects, with a particular focus on art history.
While many apps focus on productivity or self-improvement, I aimed to create something that could spark genuine interest in users and help them reduce time spent on social media by offering enriching short content.

Key features:

  1. Curated content across multiple disciplines
  2. Short, digestible lessons for easy learning
  3. Interactive quizzes to reinforce knowledge
  4. Guest articles from experts in various fields

What's next? - tbh I have no idea :|||
But here's what I'm gonna try:

  1. Organic posts - these are giving me a solid chunk of downloads rn. Communities have been super supportive, which is awesome.

  2. Paid ads - Ngl, this is kinda scary. But can't really see how to grow without dipping my toes in.

  3. Microinfluencers- Still exploring this whole scene. Reaching out to a bunch of Instagram and TikTok influencers in each subject. Will drop an update later with how it goes.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, advice, or questions about the app or the development process.
