Hey IH! I just launched Claspt — a desktop app where you write markdown notes and embed encrypted secrets (passwords, API keys) inline.
The backstory: I was frustrated with having passwords in 1Password, notes in Obsidian, and API keys in .env files. I wanted one app where my documentation and credentials lived together.
Months of solo development. Rust backend (Tauri), React frontend. Cross-platform: macOS, Windows, Linux.
Business model:
- Free forever on desktop (no limits, no account required)
- Pro ($4/mo or $36/yr) adds cloud sync via Google Drive
- Pro+ ($8/mo or $72/yr) adds hosted sync + vault storage
Current state:
- Launched today
- 0 paying customers (just launched!)
- All three platforms shipping
- Browser extension coming next (most-requested feature)
What I'm looking for:
- Feedback on the free → Pro conversion hook (is sync compelling enough?)
- Ideas for what would make you pay $4/mo for a vault app
- Whether the positioning ("notes + passwords together") resonates or confuses
