Launched my first online product!!
Hi! I'm pleased to announce that I just launched my first product online. I previously talked about motivation and to start and finish up your projects. Going forward with this idea, I saw some product ideas that could allow me to develop my product while getting feedback and maybe getting some money as compensation as well.
What did I do?
I don't know if you are familiar with Gumroad, but I saw some artists selling a "Box of tutorials" where they started in January with a price tag such as $20 and every week they updated the box with more tutorials and at the end of the year the box was around $150.
What do I think is good about this idea?
The first thing is that you can have a very small thing but with a big promise ( be sure to hold to that promise, you don't want people giving you money and you desisting in the long run ), so you can have a small product that you sell with a low price tag ( I used $10 ), and you can keep adding content in the long run and adding more value to the product.
The other thing that I like from that approach is that people get the "I need to buy this now or I'll lose the price tag", because each month, or every two weeks, you'll increase the product price tag, for those that bought at a lower price tag, they will keep getting more content for "free", and the other will want to jump into the boat as well.

Neat idea! I think Minecraft did something did similar, and I’ve heard of SaaS founders doing this with monthly product subscriptions. I need to check if Podia will allow prices to be increased over time.
I love this approach, it's great for getting started and becoming focused on shipping. Having any kind of price tag is also a great way to validate your ideas. Having people pay something for your product means they value it.
It also helps develop the habit of shipping which is so important. I feel so many indie hackers lose motivation by not making public progress. Putting something out there quickly can help combat that and help them see the reality of what is involved in launching stuff.
Yes, I spent a lot of time just trying out ideas never getting to the point where I feel comfortable sharing something, mostly relate to the fear of losing. If you don't do anything you will never lose.
It's refreshing to put me out there in the wild, I grew a lot in the past weeks where I decided to publish things and be reliable to it, I was procrastinating a lot, now I am much more focused.

Yeah, I've bought some courses in gumroad and liked the platform, I like that they allow paypal as well.
The idea is really to sell a promise, and to keep me in check to not bail on this project as well 🤣.
The idea is to add more on shading, gradients, more on sketching and hope to get an audience in order to pivot to a more niche subject such as art for games or concept art.
In my early years I also loved to work on pencil, I was really into realism, but didn't create something of my own, only copies. In the past 5-6 months I've been working on some fundamentals that I never think of when I was drawing realism, it's been fun! :D
