Not a bad idea - your in a hard to compete area As-IS though.
I would have the option to have an account (anonymous just a username/pic) and a simple follow each other feature. Minimalist. no replies or comments to each other. A main feed for your notes, and then a feed for other peoples notes. a simple icon to make your notes public/private.
who know maybe you could make the next twitter thats not shit.
