I built this after a small, specific moment at work: a colleague ran out of her monthly AI tool allowance mid-month, while a teammate on the same project had barely touched his. Nobody had visibility into that mismatch until it caused friction.
Most finance tools bury AI spend inside a generic "software" line. Most AI vendor dashboards only show usage inside themselves. Tokenwise pulls it together: AI spend by department, trended alongside revenue and headcount, itemized by tool so you can catch overlapping subscriptions, plus utilization tracking to see which departments are near their limits.

The interesting part is that Tokenwise isn't really exposing another expense category; it's making AI spend visible as an organizational pattern. The combination of spend, utilization, department, revenue, and headcount makes the underlying problem feel much closer to understanding AI adoption than simply tracking invoices.
