Launched Viso — a financial model for figuring out if a home purchase actually makes sense (not just a mortgage calculator)

Just launched Viso (viso.money) and wanted to introduce it here and get some early feedback from this community.

The problem I kept running into: every home affordability tool answers "will a bank approve this mortgage?" rather than how the purchase will actually impact your financial well-being. Those are very different questions, especially for dual-income households with RSUs, kids, career pauses, or anything else that makes a simple debt-to-income ratio meaningless.

What Viso does: you enter your real financial picture — income, savings, the home you're considering — and it runs a full month-by-month projection 30 years out: cash flow, net worth, closing-day liquidity, the works. You can also just talk to it in plain English ("what if I did a 15-year loan instead" or "what if my income drops for two years") and it re-runs the model live.

Stack, if useful to anyone here: React/Vite frontend, Node/Express backend, Supabase for auth+data, Stripe for billing, Anthropic's API for the conversational layer. The financial model itself is a pure function shared between frontend and backend so the math is guaranteed identical in both places.

Where it's at: just went live, free to try with no signup required to see a full projection. Pro tier unlocks scenario comparison, unlimited saved scenarios, and unlimited chat messages.

I'd love feedback specifically on:

  • Does the core idea land in the first 30 seconds, or does it need better framing?

  • Where does the flow from "enter your numbers" to "here's your projection" feel confusing or slow?

  • Would you trust a number this personal enough to actually change a real decision, or does it feel like a toy?

I think the strongest distinction isn't that Viso models a mortgage more accurately.

It's that it reframes the question entirely. Most tools ask, "Can you buy this house?" Yours asks, "What future are you buying if you do?" That's a much more consequential decision, and it feels like the positioning could lean even further into that difference.

This is a great way to put it, "can you buy this house" vs. "what future are you buying" is exactly the reframe I was going for but hadn't landed on the words for.

Going to steal this! Appreciate you taking the time to articulate it, this is super helpful!

        Glad it resonated.

The fact that you're leaning into that reframe left me with one question about where it ultimately takes Viso. I'd rather explain why I'm asking in the context of your product than give you a generic opinion.
