Launching a Job Board for product owners - accountability thread 🧵
So… I’ve just launched my job board specifically for Product Owner jobs in the Netherlands. A tiny niche, indeed. But as a PO myself, I like this niche.
What I’ve done so far:
- Build the site
- Added 10 vacancies
- Added a first blog post
- Build a backlog of blog posts to write
- Setup Search Console
- Setup tracking
- Made a Twitter account 🤷♂️
This thread is to hold myself accountable. My plan is:
- Add 10 vacancies weekly
- Add 1 blog post biweekly
- Tweet a vacancy every day
So every Friday, I’m going to reply here if I actually did the thing 😂

Steady, steady.
I'm seeing search traffic grow week over week. So it seems I'm doing something right. Today I spent some time lnikbuilding, I can only imagine how much spam this will bring to my doorstep.
Other than that I've been plunking away at fixing issues Search Console or my SEO tool have been finding. Improving some structured data, improving site speed, fixing some mobile UX issues.

Steady is the only word for it, really.
Been adding 5 to 10 vacancies every week. And have been getting some user interactions, which is nice.
I'm just going to try and keep this pace until December, and then see what's up.

Another week, another update.
Progress has been steady. I've been posting jobs on my board during my commute to my day job. Also I've written some short and long form content for my blog.
Google Search Console shows a steadily increasing amount of impressions in Google Search. Which is fricking awesome.
Most traction is on my more generic + specific category pages. A bit cryptic, I know, but I mean a compounded category like 'remote' (generic) 'product owner' (specific) 'vacancies'.

There's a lot of SEO improvements left to do, most of which I've on my Asana board. But I'm trying to focus on proces here: make content continuously, prioritise content over everything. Do small improvements when I feel like them.
I've also had some success with a pet peeve of mine: salary transparency. I've build a page where I show average salaries for my specific niche. And I'm currently automating keeping those averages up to date based on my posted vacancies. Awesome for removing some pesky secrecy. Can you share how you get the client? SEO? Cold Calling? By referral? I am going to develop a platform for medical travel, matching clinics to oversea customer and always thinking this "chicken or egg" problem.

Kept up a '3 vacancies per day' schedule.

Added a single blog post (hated writing it).
I really need to get some linkbuilding going. But in a small market (The Netherlands) I really have no clue where to start. I Googled it, of course, but only SEO firms popup who want to do it for me. Honestly, I don't trust those. Any tips on doing some lnikbuilding in a small country?
Other than that I'm focusing today and tomorrow on adding some more character into the website. It's quite generic and doesn't really reflect my ambitions for a 'brand'. So I'll be tweaking some microcopy, adding some icons and details, etc.
After keeping up with the schedule of course. Trust the process.
And starting a new blog post. I love writing, but apparently I hate writing around this subject. Need to find a sweet spot there.

I am hoping you are able to succeed, it always helps to make something you want to accomplish public, since it pressures you in a good way. That is definitely what I am trying to do with Policyguard.io, I would love to chat and talk a bit more.
