Launching an indie game dev studio - any suggestions on where to look/post for hiring talent, specifically a lead developer?

Hey folks,

As per the title, my 2 co-founders and I are launching an indie game dev studio - we have a well mapped-out concept (including a fully fleshed out Game Design Document) for our first title, as well as ample funding, so we're now looking for talent.

Is there a particular community or site I should post on when seeking talent in the game dev world? All 3 of us founders come from a SaaS/eComm background, so the video game industry is slightly new and esoteric to us.

At present we're trying to find a Senior Unity Developer to take the project forward on a full-time basis, with a competitive salary, benefits and the possibility of equity. I should also mention, the position is 100% remote.

For context, I'm an ex Shopify employee and my two co-founders run a very successful SaaS business.

Advice/suggestions greatly appreciated, thank you.

i don't know if r/gamedev is big enough to target with ads

gamastura has a job board (you could also try submitting press releasing announcing your studio and toss in that you're hiring developers)

post in the local cragislists for areas that have a lot of game devs (SF Bay, LA metro, Seattle, Austin, Vancouver, Stockholm)

pre-pandemic: see if your area has an igda chapter and start going to local meetups

    I reccomend r/forhire and r/gamedevclassifieds.

What types of games do you want to create? Maybe I can help you with something, ask me anything. Here is my project https://animationcpu.com/

YouTube has a lot of content on indie game Dev, I recall a video about platforms for finding others who work/wanna work in the space... (Don't recall the specific names)

Otherwise I'm sure you can find Unity Devs also on normal platform

Thanks for the feedback hatkyinc. I've been consuming a bunch of game dev content on YouTube and it's been really helpful.
