Launching Ask Users: A simple feedback platform for indie makers

TL;DR: I built a straightforward feedback tool that lets you create surveys, collect signups, and gather user feedback without the enterprise bloat or $50+/month price tag. Check it out at askusers.org

The problem

As indie hackers, we all know user feedback is crucial. But here's what drove me crazy:

Expensive enterprise tools - Most feedback platforms assume you're a company with a big budget. You pay $50-200/month for features like "advanced segmentation" and "team collaboration" when you just want to know if people like your new feature.

Stitching together free tools - The alternative? Use Google Forms for surveys, Typeform for waitlists, code your own thumbs-up widget, Canny for feature requests... suddenly you're managing four different tools and your users have an inconsistent experience.

Complicated setup - Many tools require complex integration, tracking scripts, or technical setup that eats into your precious building time.

I wanted something simple: create a survey in minutes, get a shareable link, embed widgets on my site, and see what users actually want. That's it.

What I built

Ask Users is a feedback platform with four core tools:

📊 Survey builder - Drag-and-drop builder with multiple question types (multiple choice, text, ratings). Create a survey, instantly get a shareable link and QR code. Perfect for customer research, product feedback, or event signups.

📝 Waitlist widget - Simple email collection for product launches, beta signups, or feature announcements. One line of code to embed.

👍 Feedback widget - Thumbs up/down voting with optional comments. Great for articles, documentation, or individual features.

💡 Feature request widget - Let users submit and vote on feature requests. Built-in prioritization based on user demand.

All widgets work with any website (React, WordPress, static HTML, whatever). Copy-paste the embed code and you're done.

Who should use it

You're a good fit if you:

  • Are building a SaaS, blog, or digital product

  • Want to validate ideas before building them

  • Need to collect early signups or beta testers

  • Want user feedback without complex analytics dashboards

  • Don't want to pay enterprise pricing for simple tools

Current pricing

I'm keeping it simple and affordable for indie hackers:

  • Free tier - 10 responses/month, perfect for trying it out

  • Starter - $3.99/month for 100 responses

  • Growth - $9.99/month for 500 responses

  • Professional - $29.99/month for 2,500 responses

What's next

I'm actively developing this and would love your feedback:

  • What features are missing that would make this useful for you?

  • What pricing feels right for indie makers?

  • What integrations would you want (Slack, webhooks, Zapier)?

  • Any bugs or issues you encounter?

I'm especially interested in hearing from folks who are currently using other feedback tools—what do you love about them? What frustrates you?

Having contact information in the Nav and Footer would be good for your landing page experience. Besides that, nice work and good luck with it!
