Launching Hairdo

I’m Karan, co-founder of HairDo — and this app honestly started from a very personal (and slightly stupid) problem 😅

For YEARS, I had the same hairstyle. Same barber. Same instructions. Same everything.

Not because I loved it that much… but because I was too scared to try anything new.

Every time I thought about changing my hairstyle, I had the same fear:

“What if it looks terrible… and I’m stuck with it for weeks?”

I’d literally sit in the barber’s chair thinking, “There has to be a way to preview this stuff before committing.”

Turns out… there wasn’t (at least not in a way that actually looked realistic).

That’s when I teamed up with my co-founder Asheel, and we started building HairDo.

💡 The Problem We Wanted to Solve

Trying a new hairstyle is weirdly high-risk:

• You don’t know how it’ll look on your face

• Google results = generic models (not helpful)

• Most apps = unrealistic filters

We wanted to build something that feels like:

“Try before you cut.”

🛠️ Our Journey (and how it evolved)

We thought this would be simple.

It wasn’t.

Early versions were… bad.

• Hairstyles didn’t align properly

• Results looked fake

• Some outputs were straight-up cursed 💀

We kept iterating:

• Improved face detection

• Better blending + realism

• Focused on styles people actually want (not gimmicks)

Slowly, it started clicking.

And now, HairDo lets you:

• Try different hairstyles

• Experiment with hair colors

• Actually see what works for you
