Launching Logfolio: Lessons learned and next steps

Hey everyone,

I recently launched logfolio.com, a tool aimed at developers and professionals to help them log their daily work, generate AI-powered summaries for performance reviews, and even create tailored cover letters based on their work and resume. The idea was to provide an easy way to track accomplishments and use them for interviews or performance reviews.

For the launch, I did what many first-timers do—I put it on Product Hunt. But I’ll be honest, I didn’t go in with much of a strategy. The engagement was lower than I hoped, and now I’m trying to figure out how to get the word out and drive users to Logfolio.

Here’s where I am now:

  • I’m planning to hire someone to create a cool, engaging product video to market Logfolio better on social media.
  • I’m considering whether I should pivot or focus more on improving the user experience and marketing strategies.

My main challenge has been reaching my target audience and getting the traction I need to scale. It’s tempting to think about pivoting, but I believe there’s something here worth pursuing.

Has anyone faced similar struggles during their product launch? What strategies worked for you to drive engagement after the initial launch? I’d love to hear your advice or thoughts on what I could try next.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

I've writteng a blog post about this. I studied founders success stories and share their top learnings.

    Here are their top tips:

    • Find the right hunter, who has an audience that overlaps with yours, is aligned with your goals and has credibility in your industry.
    • Promote your launch with your audience (if you have one)
    • Manually reach out to launch promoters. There's even people who paid for these shoutouts.
    • Get the Product Hunt page content right: it should be clear, concise, and visually appealing.
    • Relaunch: Julien from NotionForms got hunted by someone and he wasn't prepared. So he did a proper re-launch later and it was super successful.
    • Launch lead meagnets related to your main product. You can launch as many as you want.

Here's the full article in case you want to check it out: https://upgroves.com/product-hunt-launch/

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips! I totally get the importance of finding the right hunter and getting the Product Hunt page right, learned that the hard way with my launch. I didn’t have much of a strategy either, so the idea of relaunching sounds like a solid plan if I go that route. I’ll check out the article, thanks again for the advice!

I had a very similar experience with launching my first project !

My advice is to focus on marketing as your n°1 priority. Identify your users and target your niche.

Share your product in Reddit, Twitter community, go to ProductHunt alternatives like Uneed ! I think when you don't have a community event if your product solve a problem it's impossible to sell it bc you don't have enough trafic and feedbacks.

Good luck with your product !

Thanks for the advice! I definitely need to focus more on marketing and targeting the right audience. I’ll check out those platforms you mentioned. Best of luck with your projects too!

I can confidently give one tip: it isn't the features, but the ONE feature that no other service can do. Once you nail that down, the rest will follow.

    1. 1

That’s a great insight! I’ve been reflecting on the importance of focusing on that one unique feature that sets the product apart. I'll definitely work on refining and highlighting that core aspect moving forward.

Looking forward to it and best of luck! :)

    Disclaimer: all just my opinion

Your product lacks focus. It does not seem to have a clear user persona.
You don't seem to have any marketing knowledge. Your plan seems to be to use hacks or to "get lucky".
You know some startup-y words like "target audience" and "pivot" but it is not enough. I recommend finding and mirroring someone who is

    1. already successful,
    2. who you connect with, and also
    3. writes extensively.

    OR

You can grind on your current path although it will be painful and maybe if you just stick with it long enough, with enough pivots and learnings, you can make it work.

    Best of luck.

    1. 2

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it! I see your point about the product needing more focus, and I’ll work on clarifying the target user.

You’re right about the marketing side, I’m more of a builder, but I’ll start learning from those who are more experienced.

I know this journey will be challenging, but I’m committed to it, ready to learn from my mistakes and adapt as I go.

      Thanks again for the advice!
