🚀 Launching Market Tycoon: A Casual Supermarket Management Game!

Market Tycoon game

Hi Indie Hackers! 👋

I’m excited to share my latest project with you all: Market Tycoon, a casual supermarket management game. It’s been a fun journey developing it, and I’d love to hear your thoughts and get any feedback from fellow indie devs and gamers.

What is Market Tycoon?

Market Tycoon game homepage

Market Tycoon is a browser-based simulation game where you get to build and manage your own convenience store or supermarket. The goal is simple: expand your store by unlocking new departments, managing resources, and keeping your customers happy while increasing profits. 🛒💰

The game starts with a small store and gradually evolves as you unlock different departments like a bakery, butcher shop, and seafood section. As your store grows, so do the opportunities for expansion!

Game Features:

Game Data Panel
  • Store Management: You’ll be in charge of growing your store by adding new sections (Produce, Bakery, Butcher Shop, etc.).

  • Incremental Progression: Earn money every minute and use that income to unlock new store departments and improve customer satisfaction.

  • Strategic Gameplay: Manage your resources wisely to keep your store running smoothly. Each department requires different amounts of resources to unlock, so prioritization is key.

  • Casual, Addictive Fun: It's a great game for short play sessions, where you can come back and see how your store has grown. Perfect for a little break!

Development Journey:

market Star Rating

I’ve been working on Market Tycoon for the past few months, using Unity for the game engine and C# for the scripting. The game is designed to be light on resources but rich in content, offering a casual gameplay experience that doesn’t require any downloads, just instant browser play. 🎮🌐

The biggest challenge was balancing the progression — making sure the game isn’t too easy, but also not too frustrating for players just starting out. The core mechanics revolve around unlocking new sections for the store, which requires both money and patience (and sometimes, a bit of strategy).

Monetization:

While Market Tycoon is free-to-play, I’m considering integrating microtransactions in the future, such as cosmetic items for customizing the store, or premium sections that give a small boost to earnings. But for now, it’s all about enjoying the game without interruptions (no ads, of course! 🙌).

Feedback & Ideas:

I’m looking for any feedback on the game’s mechanics, visuals, or progression. What could make the gameplay more engaging? Are there any features you think would enhance the experience?

Also, if anyone has suggestions on how to retain players longer or any marketing tips to help the game gain traction, I’d love to hear your advice!

What’s Next?

I’m planning to expand the game with new store departments, special events, and maybe even a multiplayer mode where you can compete with other players to grow your store. I’d also like to improve the art style and animations to make the game feel even more lively.

Play Market Tycoon:

The game is live now and can be played directly in your browser! Play Market Tycoon now!

Thanks for reading, and I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback. Happy building! 🛠️💡
