Launching on IH: Podcastpage - a Website Builder for podcasters

Very excited to launch a new product on IH today - Podcastpage.io - a no-code CMS / website builder for podcasters.

I've been around Indiehackers for the past ~ 3 years, a bit before the Stripe acquisition (took me a few months to sign up though!🤐) and oddly enough it's the first product I'm publicly sharing here (or, in fact, anywhere) even though I've worked on half a dozen products since.

After several months of very hard work (quarantine really helped speeding things up) it's finally launch time.

Why is this different from what's out there right now?
I've created different tools for podcasters over the past few years, and realized it's not so easy for one to start a podcast website.
Many solutions today are either too complex and not specialized for podcasting (custom sites, WordPress/Wix sites etc.) or too simple (automatically-generated "mini sites").

Podcastpage.io makes it easy to create a website and import any podcast in minutes, but also includes many significant features for podcasters. I've just created two quick examples to show off some of the possibilities -

( @csallen hope it's okay, let me know if you want it removed! )

Knowing the market relatively well, I felt confident enough to ditch the idea of doing an MVP, and launch a pretty mature product (it's never perfect when you launch), and really not stress too much on product market fit or validation etc.

Happy to hear your thoughts, or share info on the product or technical info on how we built it.

I couldn't think of a better community to launch this product. IH is really one of my favorite places online, and as a token of appreciation to IH - I'm happy to offer a 100% discount for one year to the first user who comment on this page with their email address and a link to their podcasts.
(limited to users that are registered for 6 months or more)

Cool product, seems like a great idea at face value!

With something like this, my guess is that having high-quality design and templates will be absurdly important, so that's one thing to focus on.

In your shoes, I might aim to have pages so beautiful that most of my customers come from word-of-mouth, e.g. podcasters asking each other, "Omg your podcast website is so gorgeous, how'd you make it?"

      Strongly agree with Courtland!

I run sitebuilderreport.com where I review website builders (unfortunately PodcastPage is a bit too niche though) and that's one of the most common things I'll hear from readers: who has the nicest templates?

The next most common? Who has the best SEO. 😛

Very cool project— I think you're on to something!

        Very cool @stevebenjamins!
We definitely put a lot of thought on SEO here too, and managed to get pretty good scroes from Google (from the ones we checked using Lighthouse or other tools)

Anyways, why not include niche builders as well on your site? You could probably include a few that appeared here on IH like Carrd, Versoly etc.

        1. 1

Carrd is on the website but it takes a lot of time and effort to review website builders— so I keep it to the top 30 market leaders (as measured by market share).

I'm doing this but for video. I just made a video on your episode with Rand. I would love some feedback on how I can make the video look better and be more engaging. Rand Fishkin Podcast Video

About to pick another Indie Hacker episode I found massive value from and post another one today.

      Thanks Courtland!

Absolutely. High quality design and easy, pre-built template sets are both important features to aim for.
After all, website builders are nothing new, but the execution and feature set offered to podcasters is what (I hope) can set us apart.

Word-of-mouth alone could become a significant channel, but I probably can't count on that alone.

    I'd be interested!

My site is at salesforfounders.com, but the podcast is currently just on anchor...

      @louisswiss - You've got mail! 😎

      1. 3

        Awesome, thanks!

        Here's my site: https://pod.salesforfounders.com

Took me 10 minutes to set up. @csallen I think Satch has done a great job with the template.

Also, this doesn't feel like an MVP. It was very well thought out and easy to use. Exactly what I was looking for and definitely something I'll pay for.

    hey satch,

i'm guessing your users might want to sell something on their site?

    i'm the founder of simplefunnel.io
A tool to let to users collect payments on their site and deliver their product without writing code.

I feel an integration with simplefunnel would work quite well, we're already partnering with other landing page builders

    what do you think?

    1. 1

      Hey @namkam5,

Looks pretty cool! Which payment gateways do you currently support?

Collecting payments is not in our immediate focus, but I'll definitely keep that in mind for when it is more relevant.

      1. 1

currently, only Stripe. Sounds great, feel free to reach out anytime.

  4. 2

Let me know if you want to partner up I am the founder of https://storycreatorapp.com/. I am helping podcasters make awesome videos for their audio.

Just made a video for Rand Fishkin and Tim Ferris https://www.instagram.com/storycreatorapp/

    1. 2

Do you have an API with endpoints to create audiograms?

      1. 1

Not yet but that would be cool. I've been thinking about this for a while and plan to roll it out within the next year.

    2. 1

Thanks! Will definitely consider it after things calm down a bit.
Love your landing page. Seems like quite a few cool products in this niche, and at least two of them on IH.

  5. 1

Wow, this is pretty cool. This looks like something a lot of people will find useful.
My only advice would be to push as many people as possible onto the yearly plan. As you will notice, churn will be a bit***.

    1. 1

      Thanks!

Still a bit early to have real insights on churn but let's hope for the best :)

Congrats on the launch, looks nice.
