Launching on PH after 6 months of getting the product live

Hello Folks

We just launched Podnotes on PH today, about 6 months after taking the product live.

This is pretty opposite to our general strategy of launching on PH directly once the product is ready to get a traffic booster.

So, what led to this change?

  1. We had a rather unusual AppSumo launch for Podnotes and relied on AppSumo for distribution when we first launched
  2. We wanted to put out a great product and took our own time perfecting it out
  3. We've sold 3 products in the past year and buyers generally like products where they see an upward trend in metrics over time. Launching on PH early on can skew the traffic charts that might hurt your chances of an acquisition.

On that note, do check us out on PH and don't forget to show us some ❤️

I would love to hear about your take on PH....I know it gets good traffic, but is it not just tech people looking for the new/cool tool and there are not many end users going there?

For example, I know our PM lead looking for new tools is not browsing on PH!

I am thinking about launching on PH but this is my major hesitation!

Your tactical change is a wise one! It speaks volume to take time to refine and lay that strong foundation. Kudos on the launch!

Congrats on the launch, as a buy of business I think if you can explain the traffic trends are due to PH launch and that you expected the grid down to a stabilization path eventually the right buyer should understand.

Congrats on being in the top 10 as of this writing.

I am a new indie hacker using everyone's experience as a learning opportunity for my own growth. I will ask a question on everyone's behalf so we can all benefit if possible.

Typically, founders launch on big platforms like Product Hunt to get the initial boost of customers to keep a higher retention once the waning starts. For my own curiosity and probably everyone else's, is there a specific reason in your case why you guys chose to go this route?

Again, congratulations on the launch and I wish you all the best.
