My 2 big recommendations are:

• Get some early momentum by spreading the word in other places, getting friends to vote/comment, or anything else.
• Be ready in the comments to keep people engaged. Answer questions etc.

A couple tips that might help (from my own experience):

• Try to rally some early upvoters from your network — especially in the first 1–2 hours. Even 10–15 votes early can help with visibility.
• Consider adding a follow-up comment around mid-day with an update, a cool use case... It may help bring in new eyes.
