Shortlist is an AI recruiter that scores SDR and BDR candidates on 5 performance factors I developed after 6 years of leading BD teams. Tomorrow it goes live on Product Hunt.
Figured I'd share what the prep actually looked like since most PH launch recaps come after the fact when people already know the outcome.
Repriced the night before launch. My first paid tier was $199/mo and conversions were brutal. Dropped it to $49/mo with a 50% off launch special. $25 for the first month is impulse buy territory and removes the "let me think about it" friction entirely.
Cross posted everywhere. PH is one channel not a strategy. I'm hitting r/SaaS, r/recruiting, r/startups, Indie Hackers, and X all on the same day. Same core message, different tone for each platform.
Didn't overthink the video. Kept it simple, me talking about the problem and showing the product. No fancy editing, no stock music montage.
Reached out to 15 people I know are actively hiring and gave them early access. Warm users on launch day matter more than strangers upvoting.
Almost launched at $199 as the entry tier. Would have killed momentum on day one. The pricing change was a last minute gut call and I think it'll make or break the launch.
Almost waited another week to "polish" things. Shipped it anyway.
Whether any of this works. I'll come back and share real numbers after.
If you're launching soon I'm happy to swap notes. And if you hire SDRs or BDRs and want to try Shortlist, tomorrow's the cheapest it'll ever be.
how'd the launch go? just did mine last week — the pricing decision before launch is brutal. i cut 3 features the week before and it felt wrong at the time but nobody's asked for any of them since.
the $199 → $49 reprice was probably the right call. at this stage you want usage data, not revenue.
Happy to answer any questions you may have, the launch is officially live and I'm excited to see what I can learn
