Launching Sim7: an SMS verification API after SMS-Activate shut down

SMS-Activate shutting down in late 2025 left a lot of us without the throwaway OTP numbers our signup flows, QA tests and multi-region checks relied on. So we shipped Sim7 (https://sim7.org/) as an alternative, and I'm building it in public here.

What it does today:

  • Virtual SMS/OTP numbers in 145 countries for 1200+ services

  • - Pay-as-you-go from ~$0.008 per number, automatic refund if no code arrives

  • - Live stock refreshed hourly, so you can see real availability before you spend

  • - REST API + webhooks, so it drops into CI or a signup flow

  • - Crypto payments

The API is deliberately boring — request a number, poll or get a webhook when the code lands, release it:

curl -X POST https://sim7.org/api/v1/numbers \

-H "Authorization: Bearer $SIM7_KEY" \

-d '{"country":"us","service":"telegram"}'

Biggest lesson so far: for this category, trust matters more than price. People got burned by a provider vanishing, so refunds-if-no-code and honest stock numbers do more for conversion than shaving a fraction of a cent.

Happy to answer questions about the stock/pricing side, and I'd love feedback on the onboarding — that's where we're losing people.
