Launching Socials — an API to lookup social media links connected to a domain.

Super excited to launch Socials (socials.so) today — a single, unified source for almost all social media accounts that belong to an individual, brand, company or virtually any domain.

This wasn't always the plan, really 😅
A while ago I started exploring puppeteer. This led me to re-build on an already existing idea to serve puppeteer's powers via an API (i.e. puppeteer-as-a-service) into what's now an open-sourced project hosted at pptr.io

People who know me also know that I'm a huge fan of structured data — I mean, who isn't 🤓 and by the time I was done with setting up the latest deliverable by pptr.io, it hit me that there isn't already a single resource that we could refer to & fetch all the social media profile links of not just a company (which is what most existing services offer) but literally every other entity as well.

I also happen to be somewhat of a (wannabe) domainer and my true joy comes from the sheer science, data, analytics that goes in (besides creativity, luck etc.) to even remotely find some success in that industry. While I've worked on several other open-source projects, I've never had the idea that I felt was something that could be productized. I've always wanted to though.

That's when I figured to connect the dots and thought about building Socials. The learning so far has been enormous. The list of ideas and potential features that could be added to this tool is growing insanely on my to-do list.

Anyhoo, enjoy using the service 🙌🏽 it's built on a credit system, where you already get 500 API credits to use when you sign-up. They only get consumed when you actually get a result (i.e. when the API response code is 200).
Most importantly, please please please feel free to reach out and share any issues you face when using the API, any new features you'd like to see, anything obvious that I might've missed, something else or even if you just want to say "Hi!".
