I'm building a product that helps Youtubers get brand deals.
It is a tool that can actually make them a lot of money but since marketing is not my area of comfort I'm having trouble getting enough users for it to be profitable.
Any idea on how to get users on the platform?
There are two main audiences you're going after and there are different ways to get them. But for the most part, the principle remains the same.
Running ads to get leads isn't probably a good idea as it involves $. But to get a quick proof of concept, the path of least resistance
Here are some ideas:
I've worked as a media buyer and had to reach out to influencers for brand deals. Most influencers have a contact email visible exclusively for biz enquiry. They read these emails.
You gotta define who you want to reach out too. Like up to 100k subscribers? More? What niche should it be in?
While your service can work for any niche, I recommend to aim for 1 niche in the beginning.
It's easier to convince advertisers tho join when you say you have influencers who are targeting a specific demo.
Reach out to the influencers and be honest saying that it's in Beta and you're inviting them to join for free.
Cold outreach to get advertisers can also be effective but not all brands have influencer budgets and it's harder to filter out interest.
Reddit is a gold mine but be careful because you'll get kicked out for being too spammy. I had a bunch of issues in the beginning.
Search for groups around
Search for threads around the same service you provide and join in the conversation or just post about how you can help them find influencer who target their core demo.
Advertisers specialised in certain niches love to know that they easily get access to influencers who speak to their audience.
Working as a media buyer it was a serious issue trying to find the right influencer and did a lot of research to see their demographics etc. Having a user friendly solution where you can filter by demo and reach and subscribers would have been amazing.
Same as above, groups around advertising and marketing and influencers.
For the most part the above implies having 2 different messages saying how you help folks and that you need beta testers. The rest is just putting it in front of the users.
It's quite amazing when people on the internet spend so much time, responding and communicating with people they don't know.
Thanks so much for this answer!
Hey, looks like we are building for the same space. Let me know if you are up for chatting ian@lasso.so
I think I would 2 main things.
Be active on social media, especially Twitter. Find those relevant for your product and then tweet in that area. Don't promote your product, just be helpful, share tips and tricks.
Find Facebook groups and do the exact same thing. Don't promote, just be helpful.
Thanks, appreciate it..
I'm thinking to provide value in the form of -what is a good deal, how much should you get paid, that sort of thing. Makes sense? Other ideas?
Yes, sounds good. But also be on the lookout for people asking questions you can answer. Or people sharing posts where you can add value to the post. These are also golden opportunities.
Thanks! Just having this forum to get people to chat with is so energizing..
