Learning to communicate with Developers
Hi IH's,
I'm a Business Analyst within a Software Development team, and communication is a massive part of my day to day role. I've come to realise that there are not many tools out there that focus on this relationship.
Due to this, I'm looking at creating an online product that can help non-tech founders communicate with developers through real life examples - This should help teams communicate clearly about what features are needed.
I've managed to throw together an MVP which focuses on User Story Examples and was wondering if anyone would find this useful? It's super niche at the moment, but I'd be interested to hear any feedback :)
Seems like a really good idea. With communication between non developers and developers I think there is a balance between developers dealing with constraints as well as not understanding the importance of a particular feature or UX decision that could make or break the experience and non devs not understanding the amount of effort involved with dealing with constraints, like how costly a particular design decision is and is it truly worth it. Bridging that gap would definitely help production run more efficiently.
My first thought was this isn't necessary as you shouldn't have to learn how to communicate with developers. My second thought was, I've worked with enough developers to know you probably do. I think this is an interesting idea. I don't know if it is a business or not. Take this comment as completely neutral as I don't have good feedback one way or the other. Best of luck to you!
Basically, it should show a non-developer how a user story should look in order to be actionable for a developer. Right?
Yes you’re spot on. Simply put, that is the crux of the current version. It needs more examples, and also a comparison of good and bad examples to be more effective though.
Sounds like a good onboarding tool for the role :)
