Learnings from reaching $7,267 MRR with a SaaS for Notion

I interviewed Lean Zubrezki who reached $7,267 MRR with a SaaS for Notion 🔥

Here are 4 big learnings from Lean's journey:

Context: Notion2Sheets helps Notion users get the analytics power of Google Sheets.

1. Social media engagement to get the first 10 customers.

I frequently posted on social media and participated in relevant discussions by replying to questions and mentioning my product if relevant.

Sharing brief videos and screenshots showcasing the capabilities of the tool further boosted visibility. The Notion subreddit and all the Notion-related Facebook groups were the perfect place for it.

2. Launching on Product Hunt is more than user acquisition.

Launching on PH was undoubtedly the best marketing decision I made.

It is not only about the launch but everything that happens around it. You first need to prepare the material that makes you focus on your landing page, your copy, and your visuals.

The posts on social media keep the conversation going and increase the reach of the launch.

3. Traffic source matters a lot.

I also posted on Hacker News (HN) and made it to the front page, resulting in a significant surge in website traffic.

While that was exciting, it didn’t translate into installs or sales.

4. Removing the free plan = a good experiment.

June was a marginally negative month.

As a response, I removed the free plan for new users, offering them a 7-day free trial instead, and migrated existing users in batches.

This single decision resulted in a 15% monthly growth in the tool's MRR since the change.
