Legal for Indie Hackers and Freelancers - Free Weekly Newsletter

I am starting a newsletter providing legal education for indie hackers and freelancers who cannot easily afford legal services.

In each issue, I will explain provide answers to one or more questions indie hackers and freelancers have in their day-to-day work. This will include incorporation, taxes, data protection, contracts, employment, and anything else that you may need an answer to.

It will be short, only essentials, and no fluff. No legalese, plain language only.

Here is how the content would look like:

You can easily understand if GDPR applies to your business through the following simple formulas:

  • EU business + EU users = GDPR applies
  • EU business + non-EU users = GDPR applies
  • EU business + EU and non-EU users = GDPR applies
  • Non-EU business + EU users = GDPR applies
  • Non-EU business + non-EU users = GDPR does not apply
  • Non-EU business + EU and non-EU users = GDPR applies only to the relationship with the EU users
EU business is a business (or individual) incorporated or based in the European Union. An EU user is a citizen or a resident is an individual who has citizenship or residency in a member-state of the European Union.

I love the idea, Petar. Thanks for offering it! Your example above is perfect.
I couldn't tell from your bio or the product page...what's your legal background?

Thanks! I have LLM in Criminal Law, but most of my professional experience is in tech law - for the Macedonian government and for a data protection SAAS company. And freelance consulting, of course.
