I’m Harry Dry. I left uni, failed with a few startups, finally got traction and left my job to work on Marketing Examples. AMA!
So this week I interviewed Tom Evans, COO at Email Octopus, for a new series on the "Reality of Startups". For any long time listeners of the Indie Hackers podcast, he's the guy who Jonathan and Gareth Bull (the two cofounders) credit with a lot of their early growth.
His answer on pricing was most memorable. Arguing against the conventional wisdom that software companies should always charge higher prices. And that this undercutting strategy that has helped EmailOctopus carve out a niche in the email space.
The whole interview is linked below. Definitely someone I look up to who has his work / life balance in good order.
