Lessons from Taskade's Product-led Content Marketing Strategy — How we tripled our traffic organically.

Hey everyone!

I'm John, co-founder, and CEO of Taskade. I'm excited to share some tips on how we more than tripled our traffic for Taskade's templates gallery and blog in the past year organically using a product-led content marketing strategy, despite being in one of the most competitive categories. (tasks, project management, and productivity tools! 😱)

Our approach is simple but effective. We created product-led content that helps our users get the most out of Taskade, optimize it for SEO, and promote it on social media. Here are some strategies that have worked for us:

Tip #1: Position Yourself As An Alternative to Popular Competitors

One of the best ways to gain visibility in a crowded market is by positioning yourself as an alternative to popular competitors. For example, we created content identifying Taskade as a clear alternative to Notion. This allowed us to tap into the market of people unhappy with Notion or looking for a more cost-effective solution. To create content that Google and other search engines love, make it a listicle-type article, listing yourself and other options as viable alternatives to the competitor.

Tip #2: Create "Best of" Articles

Another strategy that worked for us was creating "best of" type content around services our product offers or problems it solves. Whatever problem your product solves, chances are people are searching for the "best" or "top" solution. Lists tend to perform better in Google than content about a single product for these searches. For example, we created an article discussing the best online to-do list apps available, and we were sure to include Taskade as one of the top options.

Tip #3: Do Not Neglect Comparisons

As your brand grows, publishing content comparing other products in your market to yours is essential. These can perform great for people looking to switch from the current product they are using or for people who may have just heard about your product and want to see how it compares to what they are currently using. Don't leave it up to review sites and YouTubers to publish comparisons. Instead, you can control the conversation. Be honest in your assessment of competitors and your product. Do not hesitate to mention where your product is better and vice-versa.

I hope these tips are helpful for other startup founders out there! If you have any questions or want to share your experiences, feel free to comment below. Let's support each other on our journey to success.
