Let's Search AI tools by AI

Hey IHs,

We have just added an AI assisted search to topai.tools under https://topai.tools/ai-assist. The idea is to just describe what you want to accomplish in 3-5 words and get suggestions for what tools might be useful with some relevant suggestions for what type of things might help.

This is still beta (just in case it breaks down 😃) .. Check that out and would love to hear your feedback and recommendations.

I love the idea, and it's working great. I searched for it, and it showed good results. You have listed awesome, useful tools. I'm checking this site to see which tool I can use to boost my work.

Keep up the great work. I would love to see more tools!

Definitely the best so far. Great concept. Work need to be able to trust.

I prefer a search result to tell me honestly. No matches found. Or 2 and these are others apps you may be interested in. This app did not do that in. my testing but told me nonsense.
- There are already apps saying they use openAI but do not really. Coat-tailing. Automating cut and paste in an app into openAI is not openAI enabled fm. Will your tool gatekeeper such 'truth-stretches', to ensure it can be trusted?
- How to report incorrect search results?
- Id like to be able to return results in order of what is best-fit to me and add to my collection seamlessly. If it did this well, then I would pay to keep mycollection on this platform.
Example
I Want To Feed My Own PDF To An OpenAI Engine And Then Search Using Chatgpt Capabilities
- showed 20 search results, and only 3 are relevant.
- missed a few. ie lateral.io which I am currently reviewing
- many ridiculously wrong answers (ChatGPT for Google, ChatGPT (OpenAI)
- Perplexity.ai is another app of yours and there was no indication of this in result
- Still had to wade thru (scroll scroll scroll) -- ideally I would of been told Robot found 20, x are open source , y are have zero constraint on PDF page size ... etc..
- Sort by date launched; Sort by, product is on IH, claimed v unclaimed listing
- search result in list rather than gallery (after 7 human brain does not process anything in a list). Both is ideal
The app I want, have nick-named "PDF muncher". App eats PDFs, spits out insights. ebook size PDFs. -- "My private chatgpt"

Love: robot - making him smaller and on the side so less scroll pls
Love: I want... (and examples)
Nice to see.a trend on what others have been asking...
Plus I would like to see if the listing has been claimed by owner.
Plus I would like to ignore any app I tag from my future searches
Plus be awesome if there is transparency around the alias build

When we crowdsource data build, best to make it super easy. - Is there plans to add a 1-click add-to extension to use from websites not listed?

  Let me tell you this is the best feedback I got, very interesting and constructive ideas that I will SURELY take into consideration as I develop this further.
  
  So far I have been working on this solo and wanted to see a proof of concept just to ensure that this could work effectively after some tweaks and feedback. That's why I am showing the BETA sign.
  
  Let me put down few thoughts quickly:

  Quality of results will be my top priority as we go, I am actually rejecting too many that claim they are AI but they aren't in any way :)

  The missed tools issue should get better very soon as we ramp up on indexing tools (right now doing still doing many things infra wise, so we are not yet there).

  Two reasons here, one is number of tools that fit with the query and the quality of the descriptions we receive, definitely will work on that as we go.

  These are just great ideas, will loop them in.

    We have bookmarking if you create an account, I have just been thinking about this one but need to get basics done right first.
    
    Most do bookmarking poorly. If you have ability to add to my collection. Then that opens up other known triage tools e.g. pin, rank them in my collection, tag failed all sorts of ability to manipulate the tagging of ones own collection while we deep dive in a space.

    Yes. Launching well on PH reduces credibility of app market fit fm. The platform is highly gamed, a non-trust platform. Apps that think gaining traffic thru friend up votes, is not an app I even want to hear about.

    my pleasure. this is a golden opportunity... I have cheering for you.
    Ive gone thru all the apps now. Short answer to my search is NONE.
    still constrained by allowed number of PDF pages.
    
    You could even have nuts like me, put their hands up "to be stewards in areas". e.g. crowdsource the gatekeeper process. 100s of us are doing it for our own needs. Might as well share the work done, value.

Why the "broad results" button btw ? What's the thinking behind it ?

  Interesting question, It's experimental but here is the thinking behind it .. for example you might be looking for "tools to write an essay" the search should provide your with the most relevant tools for what you want, but if you feel a bit open to other relevant ideas you can do "broad search" and you MIGHT get results that are related to "research", "summarization" etc. It's not exactly what you asked for but they can still help with the task in creative ways :)

Just checked your website it looks good. One suggestion, you can add some padding to the card. Text is looking like it is sticked to the card border

The robo animation looks fantastic !

When I saw the examples, i clicked on it. Thought it would go in the search box. You may look into this.

Love the AI assist feature! Fits well with your website!

And glad to have Evoke on there as well. Very useful for devs looking to build AI apps

Ideally app give user ability to 'de-noise'
- dont want to see featured. uses valuable real estate on my mac. lm see a trend graph instead or something promoting radical transparency instead
- do want to see new, new last week,
- want to be able to mute/filter out/ignore certain vendors who observed as spinning out multitude of AI tools with little care.

- app status: building in public.. setting the correct expectation.
- tech stack would be awesome. Something I would love to see on IH product page e.g. which no-code used, open-source, etc..

I lost about $105,050 to crypto investment scam just recently. The company posed as an investment company that could deliver a certain percentage in returns if you deposit your Bitcoin with them. At first, it seemed real, it worked twice. I didn't realize they set up a bot (robot) that will completely shutdown your account after you have decided to invest high. So i couldn't access my crypto. Contacted the customer service and they told me about (unending) website upgrade. Long story cut shut!! it was a scam and i was able to do a research and saw a comment about similar experience, so i was told to Contact DATABASE RECOVERY. Well, These guys amazed me. Lol!! they literally tracked the scammer, tracked the crypto and refunded me 100%. Scammer is about to be taken to court.
