Let's Share our Most Successful Marketing/Sales Strategies?

Thought we might share marketing strategies we tried and got good results with. Your strategies might give other people new ideas.

Here are some of the things that worked for me on Proposeful (business proposal management SaaS, most clients are SMBs):

  • We turned our product into a plug-and-play feature for other SaaS, specially CRMs. I created a way other companies could integrate with us by just loading a simple .JS file. They get a kick-ass feature and it gives us access to their clients. A lot of times their salespeople recommend our products when clients have the need to send proposals;

  • We turned our most important feature into a lead generation machine. Visitors want to see our proposal templates. To do so, they need to sign up. They look good enough they're willing to sign up to check them out. When they do, they get to experience our product and we get their contact information to work them as leads;

  • We wrote several articles for other companies' blogs. It was very boring, to be honest, as most of them companies we spoke to basically asked for the same article ("how to write a business proposal"). However, this improved SEO for all of our pages and we still get visitors from those articles;

  • We have a "qualification" step when signing up. Users need to tell us a few things about their company before getting to access their account. The most important thing is "why are they signing up". This lets us know which leads have a problem to solve and which are just looking around;

  • We ask for phone numbers when signing up and we call every lead that looks like might be a good fit. It's a great way to get feedback and close more sales.

Might have more, I'll update if I remember any.

What are yours?
