LinkedIn as a source of potential users/customers?
In thinking of ways to "find" potential users to test the initial concept, I'm wondering if anyone here has used LinkedIn to be part of the initial customer accquistion/test process?

What are you building? LinkedIn can absolutely be a great place to get users as long as they’re within your scope.
It’s a huge community for recruiters and job-seekers, but I’ve met and interacted with many people that are into many things, much like any social network.
I really like Reddit too for finding a target market!

I'm plodding thru putting together a "Chegg" like site for college textbooks. The idea is to provide the cheapest (new/used/rent) content for the class for ~400 tgt colleges. User selects college/class, app/site provides the book/content/price - as well as some basic comparison data. User then buys (hopefully).
However, I'd like to have a solid process with potential customers. Any ecommerce/fulfillment process is going to have to overcome a number of issues, one of which is having a solid tgt corpus of customers to reduce the possible fraud/scam action.
Oh nice! I recently learned about Chegg as I was powering through a C++ class and got stuck so many times lol! I never purchased any of the results from whatever problem I was trying to find solutions for, but it was the first time experiencing any services like that and I thought it was kind of brilliant!
One thing I read about them though was that the answers aren’t necessarily vetted, so that could be a good problem to solve in that regard.
I didn’t know about their textbook program, but the class I was in used ZyBooks to host the textbook, and it was interactive. Might be worth looking at for ideas.

Yeah, there are lots of "plays" on the textbook thing. I actually thought that the powers that be would have all gone digital and therefore there'd be no arb opportunity. But in the 25 years I've looked at this.. It's never really changed.
Textbooks are obscenely priced. The college/book industry doesn't really give a &* about the kid, and everyone wants to rip the student off.
I'm interested in seeing if there's a basic opportunity to provide the user with the cheapest content possible.
I'm actually much more interested in determining if I can get enough users to use this kind of process, to allow me to gain insight into the user's peers who are also using the site, as well as from the classes the user is taking.
If a system like this has enough "data"... it becomes somewhat valuable.
