Hi everyone,
I've recently deployed a LinkedIn scheduler that helps users schedule posts.
The idea came from both seeing people use Twitter schedulers and some LinkedIn posts blowing up on my feed.
I was thinking that I had never really seen #buildinpublic posts on LinkedIn (not sure if that's a good thing or not 😅). Maybe such a tool could be useful for other indie hackers trying to build their brand on LinkedIn?
Here's the demo:
It's my first end-to-end product, so I thought of something interesting that I could build without giving too much thought to validation.
The styling of the site is super basic, but it does its job.
I'm debating between continuing it or going for another shiny object. Worst case, I can always use this for myself.
What do you think? Could you see yourself using it? Do you think LinkedIn could be a viable alternative to Twitter for indie hackers? 🤔
Interested to hear what people think.
Full disclosure: I sell in this space — Avery Lin (avrlin). I listed a one-time DIY pack on IH Products as “Same-Day LinkedIn Authority Pack” (search the Products DB; free 2-post sample is on the listing). Sold via an AI assistant storefront — also disclosed.
Agree LinkedIn is a stronger alternative to Twitter for indie hackers who need inbound from operators, not dunks. The stall I keep seeing: people “switch platforms,” then still look generic on the About + first week of posts — so the better channel never compounds. Offline Markdown blanks (rewrite the profile offer line, then 5–7 lived short posts they can edit tonight) sit next to “post on LinkedIn instead of Twitter,” not instead of the platform shift: same move, more “ship something specific this week” than another tip thread.
Curious what made LinkedIn stick for you — clearer offer/About, or consistency after the profile cleanup?
If you can get over the initial discomfort of sharing your progress with people you know on Linkedin it could definitely be a better option. Most people would have a larger following on Linkedin than twitter as well probably.
100%, I think the main fear is possibly failing in public. For myself, most people in my LinkedIn network are people I've met. Totally understand why there would be a barrier there.
It's also why I think there might be a good opportunity! Since people aren't really using LinkedIn that way yet.
Building in public type of content on linkedin is probably more unique than on twitter where it is more common place. So i can definitely see an edge there in doing so.
I have 7k followers on LinkedIn and only 13 on Twitter… so this might be biased. But :
LinkedIn seems to be much better at generating organic views than Twitter. Also paired with sales navigator it gives a targeting power that Twitter does not have.
Would I use the product in the video? Probably, but only if you have amplification functionalities like Lempod has.
Pair it with Pods of indie hackers that auto like your posts and that should help with value added network effect.
Lempod site for reference : https://lempod.com/
Pods of indie hackers would be super valuable for people starting to grow actually.
I had heard of those kind of things being done manually, but I didn't suspect there was software out there to automate it
100% automated (was a paying customer) - all accounts are real tho. You have to mimic human behaviour by only providing “likes” at a reasonable speed.
Very doable and very valuable.
Same could be applied to Twitter tho(auto like and auto reshare)
Some people build in public on LinkedIn, e.g. https://www.linkedin.com/in/dosberg/.
But I think there are more valuable target audiences for this tool. Some ideas:
I think these will pay off more than the indie maker crowd.
That's a great idea. Before moving on to something else, I'll try reaching out to LinkedIn influencers. They might be okay using something less polished.
Your idea is good. I think you only need to find the right audience for it, i.e. the intersection of:
You can do this!
Appreciate it Niklas, good luck with your projects!
Hi,
There's at least one SaaS group on LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/groups/122612/), but I'm not certain that the people in it would be that engaged with building in public posts - I just searched the group for any posts on that topic and could not find any.
Interesting, I'll check it out. Thanks for sharing
