Fellow Hackers,
[I'm looking for companies that have made it that are NOT UNIQUE.]
I just finished listening to the interview with Jason Cohen (@asmartbear) of WP Engine.
Near the end he states that : "I could easily name you companies, that are bootstrapped, are in the tens of millions dollars of revenue and profitable and are not unique. Just well executed." (This statement came after Jason mentioned that he disagreed with the idea that your product has to be unique or that it has to be in a unique market place to make it.)
He didnt want to name any of the companies that met the 'bootstrapped, profitable, not unique' criteria.
Given that, I was wondering if the community could contribute to a list of companies (tech/online etc) that meet (or are close enough) to the criteria mentioned above. I think it would help fellow potential founders get rid of the idea that you must have a unique product/service to launch/make tons of money.
Cheers!

In this IndieHackers podcast (link below) Dave DeSandro talks about his company MetaFizzy, and how he didn’t make anything that wasn’t already available for free; he just did it better and charged.

Blows my mind how there are so many companies doing the EXACT same thing, almost seems too easy :)
it's a lot easier to name companies that are original ideas and successful because there are very few of them. Maybe a couple of thousands in the entire world.
A few examples: all the domain sellers, hosting companies, job boards, classified ads website, companies to book hotels, flights, rent a car/truck, email providers, social network automation tools, sites for deals, freelancing website, dating apps/websites, food deliveries. I could go on for hours.
You mean something like this? https://www.indiehackers.com/products?funding=self&minRevenue=5091
Sup, I'm mainly concerned with entities that are not unique that have made it.
Doesn't that list contain a bunch of them?
half of the companies on mixergy are bootstrapped
My main concern is companies that are not unique but are making it in the tech space.
