Local/ in-person customer outreach

I am creating a marketplace for renting boat slips, and happen to live in an area that has a high demand. I have a landing page setup describing the value over less specific competitors (craigslist, nextdoor, etc). I have also interviewed a few boaters and slip owners through connections.

Now I want to start driving potential customers to the landing page to see if there is enough interest to move forward with an mvp.

Does anyone have experience with local marketing and customer outreach? Any tips for approaching folks as they are loading up their boats, going door-to-door, etc. What is the process for getting a write-up in the local newspapers?
