Looking for a business partner to build a new social network
Hi,
I have this idea, going on my mind for a couple of months. It is a social network app with some special features.
By profession, I'm a software developer and would do most of the work by myself. However, I want to raise it to a higher level, to make it a successful project with good marketing and traffic. Would really like to find a co-founder to share the idea.
How to find someone, in the online community, that you can trust ?
In nature I'm not distrustful, but it's the matter of principle. How to share an idea with someone and keep that secret? If I had a business, I probably ask a potential partner to sign a NDA. But I have no business, yet.
Any ideas?

One of the most recurring advice we find on IndieHackers and similar website is to talk about your idea and not keeping it secret.
I haven't started yet any real side project (but I will soon), so I can't tell you that it's what I do, but it's what I will do for sure.
I know it's hard because of the fear of getting your idea stollen, but in your case you have no choice : no one will say "ok, let's work together" before having any hint about the idea. So you'll have to rely on trust.
Here is what I would do : build an MVP, very basic, with mock ups if necessary. Then, once you have it, you can show it and ask for partnership. Having the MVP makes you legit which will keep away most of those "idea-robbers", it will brings potential futur users as well as potential partners.

I agree with the previous comment. Make an MVP to help you get a good partner that's willing to sign an NDA. But remember an NDA can be a turn off for some people, you just have to make a decision and go with it. Don't wait too long. I'm working on a social network too and I can tell you it's A LOT OF WORK! Be sure to have the passion to keep you going.
Thats interesting. are you working on some php script ?
all I could find were a php scripts. But my skills are C#, and Javascript. I dont want to build social network from scratch, I want to extend some existing script.
And regarding partnership and NDA's. I will definatelly have to find someoen that I can meet in person and then discuss ideas. Thats why I am travelling this december to Thailand. Hope to find some likeminded people there...

I'm building an iPhone app using Swift as the programming language with Google Firebase as the database. I would recommend developing with PHP and JavaScript/Jquery. There are bunch of tutorials on youtube and online on how to develop a social network. Look for templates at codecanyon.net
