Developer with experience building chrome extensions, good front-end skills. Looking for a side hustle, easy to work with and collaborative.
The idea
Chrome extension that you store your "shopping preferences". Sizing for shoes, clothing, gender etc... Shopping closet - when you go to an online clothing store it only shows items that are available in your size and whatever other preferences you have marked. I'm initially thinking of this in clothing but I'm sure it can be expanded to other areas of e-commerce. You could also have profiles for myself, my partner, kid 1, kid 2.
I don't know if this is possible or not, but I do know a common pattern of going to sites and getting sizes.
your main challenge is going to be integrating with various store pages. There is no standard for telling an online store to "filter for size M", so the code for this will need to use a bunch of heuristics and your main headache will be to get it to work well across the board (and then stay on top of the stores changing their pages).
Would it be possible to do it store by store? I guess if you look at something like Honey - they would have started similarly?
yes, for sure. It's 100% possible. As you say. you can start with a small number of pages and a simple solution.
(also, should have noted in my first reply, I'm not looking to pair up, I was browsing ideas and thought I'd offer a comment).
