Looking for a marketing collaborator for a variety of diverse websites

Hello!

I am a serial website inventor (strong tech background). I love coming up with ideas and creating them. Im good at building websites. My problem comes after I push the "Launch" button. I just can't sell/market/promote my websites. I have tried to learn to do it myself. Really, I have. I've read books and articles, watched videos and lurked around various marketing groups on reddit/discord/etc. I just don't have the motivation. I love programming and hate marketing. For the past 2 years I've tried to force myself to spend one day per week working on marketing my sites. I dread going into work that day, and my motivation is gone. Ive learned that to be happy, I need to focus on the tech side and find someone else to help me with the marketing side.

Here are some of the websites that I have worked on in the last 5 years. None of these are Unicorns in the making. But, I believe that with proper marketing, they could collectively support a small team.

https://www.foldnfly.com - Paper Airplanes
https://www.zazow.com - Generative Artwork Tools
https://www.validbot.com - Website Validation and Testing
https://www.braingle.com - Brain Teasers, Riddles, Puzzles and Games
https://www.movienight.tips - Find Family Friendly Movies From Past Decades
https://www.darkpattern.games - Avoid Addictive Gaming Dark Patterns
https://www.novelade.com - Find Good Sci-Fi Novels
https://www.puzzletales.com - Interactive Puzzle Stories

These do not currently make enough money for me to hire a full time digital marketer. In my fantasy scenario I could find a freelance digital marketer willing to work on commission. Any growth above some agreed upon baseline would get split 50/50.

  1. I realize that this person would be working for very little for the first few months which probably makes this a deal breaker. I don't know.

  2. How do I go about finding and validating such a person?

  3. Anyone want to help out? :D

Hey Jake, I run a growth marketing agency helping startups ... (exactly) grow. Even though, this may not be a fit, as you've mentioned you are looking for a freelancer, let me just give you one marketing advice that I see when I'm speaking in tech geeks like you say you are :)

Before building a website or any other project, try to find out what people want - what their challenges/issues/pain points are and then think how you can incorporate this learning into the project. This makes marketing a lot easier :) Hope it helps a little.

And to your question - out of people you may find here, you can take a look at Upwork or Freelancer.com and post an ad telling exactly what you're looking for. Don't feel bad about the money, not everybody wants to work for fix reward. I can see a huge opportunity in working with somebody with strong technical background.

Good luck and if you have any marketing-related question, don't hesitate to ask.

How would like to monetize it? It seems ads are the better way.

Each website has its own monetization strategy. Some of them are ads, some are direct sales, some are a combination of both.
