I think Tabbli is exactly for your needs. It is a high-level no-code database with an elastic-search engine implemented. So you can make filtration and smart text search. You can use API to import different external data. From different formats. And it is based on Postgres inside the system.
Hey- we're actually trying to do something very similar to this with Phiona. We've been in closed beta the past few months, but are planning to launch soon with the ability to combine, clean and filter database tables and spreadsheets. Our website is a bit out of date at the moment, but will be updating it soon with our new features built using feedback from our initial users - https://phiona.com
Feel free to reach out- would love to understand your targeted use cases a bit more.
Gave retool a shot, but the queries ran so slow compared to psql console (>30 seconds vs < 1 second). Contacted support to see if there's a better way to do things.

Checking this out, thanks Alex

Cool, checking it out. Looks like it doesn't support Postgres yet?
Not yet, although we do have that on deck in the next month or so. We currently support MySQL and S3.
My thing is built on Postgres already but I'll keep an eye out for that update.
http://retool.com maybe ?
Thanks, checking this out, looks promising :D

Algolia
Have you also tried Solr and Algolia ?
Elasticsearch or Algolia
