Although I am here in Canada on a student visa and only allowed to work part-time (20hrs per week). I had a job when I came here but I got laid off because of my previous company's financial crisis.

Hi Sagun! Hope you're finding what you're looking for. I'm a bored web-graphic designer looking to upgrade his technical skills and creative career, so I can't be much of a help for you, but I would suggest - if you haven't already done so - to: a) design a good curriculum and portfolio of your work, b) send it to companies and individuals through linkedin, indeed and those related to your field, c) look around for those who might need web development help and propose something new to them.
P.S.: I was also planning to come to Canada! How's there!?

Canada is awesome. It is refreshing and peaceful and I am loving every bit of it. Right now, I am in Sudbury and studying IT Business Analysis.
